A Time to Be Thankful

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, to remember all the things we have in life to be grateful for, both big and small. It is not a time to worry about what we do not have, but rather to appreciate what we have been blessed with, whether that is love, family, abilities, a career we enjoy, possessions, etc. For me, I appreciate my family, my animals and all of my friends. I have had a good life overall, watched my son grow up into an intelligent and wonderful young man whom I am very proud of, done a lot and seen a lot of my dreams fulfilled, managed to live through a major surgery and recover completely, seen my Red Sox win four World Series titles, helped quite a few people who were struggling, and so much more. My life has given me a caring husband who takes care of me and my family, and tolerates my insane love for animals, as well as provided me with two loving sisters and their families, two parents who loved us with all their hearts, wonderful friends whom I have had the pleasure of knowing, and the ability to bring together a large group of my St. Pat’s alumni to share in a wonderful evening of fun, laughter and friendship. For all that and more, I am truly blessed.

At this time of year, please remember those who are not as fortunate as we are, whether it is because they are homeless, have no family or friends, are serving overseas protecting our great country, or are ill. Take a moment to help someone out, do some small thing to make someone’s day without expecting anything in return but that wonderful feeling of joy that you get when you do something to help others. Enjoy every day of your life, thank the Lord for all He has given you, and appreciate the small things. Most of all, love with all your heart, and tell those you love every day that you love them and appreciate them, for life is so short and precious, and a moment should never be wasted.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, everyone, and may the upcoming Holiday season be filled with blessings, joy, love and wonderful moments to create lasting memories. Enjoy!
